The Poodle Club of Southern California urges those considering a puppy or a dog to please be sure that a dog is something they truly have the time and energy for.
Bo was an example of someone biting off just a little bit more than they could handle, but thankfully Bo's story has a happy ending.
Bo was originally purchased along with another Standard Poodle puppy. As both puppies grew his first owner quickly realized that she couldn't do both puppies justice - so she made the decision to give one of the puppies away to a family member. Unfortunately Bo's next owners were also not able to make the time for him and, they gave Bo to a friend, AND you guessed it, once again the friends were not able to properly care for him but this time he was picked up by the authorities while running loose on the streets. Of course this could easily have been the end of Bo.
Bo had his original dog tags on when he was picked up and the authorities contacted his original purchaser, who paid the fine, and realizing, that she still couldn't deal with two young Standards, turned Bo over to the Poodle Club of Southern California Rescue.
As you can see from the picture above, after Bo's 'adventures' he was badly matted, extremely greasy and dirty, and in need of a little TLC. Club president Madeline Patterson once again worked her grooming magic and cleaned Bo up.
[To the uneducated eye, Bo's 'look' above might appear 'cute' but imagine being forced to wear hair curlers/rollers that were too tight, over your whole body -- or imagine that every time you laid down or sat down it was like sitting on thick coiled pieces of rope and you couldn't get comfortable - 24 hours per day, and you can begin to understand the discomfort a matted and dirty poodle feels. Matts pull at the skin - like someone constantly pulling on your hair.]
All those who had the pleasure of spending even a little time with Bo while he waited to be adopted - found him to be smart, eager to please, clean and quiet, with a sweet and loving personality - every one knew he was going to make the most wonderful pet for a kind and loving family and that he could easily fit in any where - and he has.
Bo was adopted by Michele Sohner and her family who understand that Standard Poodles require regular exercise and that Bo - and all Standards need, and deserve, training. Bo loves and adores his new family and they in turn love and adore him!
