  • July 4th, 2006  NBC, ABC, CBS each weighed in with KEYT joining ABC to do early evening 5 - 6 o'clock reports.  [Thank you Tracy Lehr for your compassion.]  Once again FOX 11 did not disappoint with a wonderful story by Jane Yamamoto and her team which aired at 10:00 P.M.]  The L.A. Times and the Ventura County Star both had teams working over time on this story too!  Right up until the last minute people wanting to volunteer phoned and showed up at the doorstep of the shelter.  Rumor has it 90 people who wanted to volunteer called the shelter on July 4th alone and shelter staff reported that the phones had been ringing for over a week!
