We know, we know, this is supposed to be poodle rescue - but every once in a while someone else totally captures our hearts.
At first glance it was suspected that this little girl was a labra-doodle, because unfortunately there is such an influx of other breeds mixed with poodles at ALL the shelters, but it turns out, that on closer inspection, and with help from Afghan Hound Rescue that this is indeed a mostly Afghan Hound puppy.
This 5-month-old black female Afghan Hound puppy was found at the Downey Animal Shelter. [A volunteer from Afghan Hound Rescue of Southern California bailed her out and one of our Poodle Club member volunteers fostered Whisper and then found her a wonderful, forever home.]
With her jointed tail carried high, she is VERY Afghan Houndish in appearance and she 'floats' like an Afghan Hound when she gets moving.
She's a tall, slim, puppy, who is going to be an extremely elegant adult, and is going to get even prettier as she matures, and grows more coat.
Extremely sweet she gets along well with other dogs and cats, plus she's good in the car. Her foster parents have named her Whisper because she's so quiet and 'soft'.
On her very first day in foster care she had one 'accident' in the house. Since that time she's gone to the door and asked to go out, and has not had another accident. She sleeps through the night and definitely loves a soft place to lie - dog bed, regular bed or couch!
She has been examined by a vet, has had all of her shots, and has been micro chipped, wormed and spayed. PLUS she's been evalulated by a professional trainer who was amazed at how smart she is - commenting that she could do anything including agility or service work and that she's one of those once in a life time dogs! All she needs now is a very special, loving, permanent home. [It's unusual for us to have a young puppy - one lucky home is going to be very pleased!]
Whisper has been placed in a wonderful, loving, forever home!
